About the position

The General Manager at Advance Stores Company Inc is responsible for leading the store team, managing customer relationships, and achieving sales goals while maintaining high service and appearance standards. This role requires a strong understanding of automotive systems and store operations, along with the ability to inspire and develop team members. The position demands a commitment to customer success and business integrity, with a focus on financial metrics and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve overall store sales goals and service objectives
  • Manage and grow Professional Customer relationships/sales
  • Selection, hiring, development, performance management, coaching, scheduling, and engagement of store Team Members
  • Ensure execution of all inventory and operational standards
  • Coach all Team Members to deliver on Customer expectations (DIY and Professional)
  • Manager on duty responsibilities including coaching, floor/phone management, task assignment and completion, safety, open/close duties
  • Lead change management initiatives
  • Embrace diversity and foster a respectful environment for both Customers and Team Members
  • Provide DIY service including battery installation, testing, wiper install, etc.
  • Assist District/Region in other functions upon request

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience managing a team of 10-20 Team Members in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Successful experience managing profitability; proven financial and business acumen
  • High school diploma or GED; Bachelor's degree in business or a related area preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • Working knowledge of automotive systems preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with Customers, peers, and upper management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software (Word, Excel required; PowerPoint preferred)
  • Ability to review and analyze business reports, such as profit and loss statement (P&L)

Nice-to-haves

  • ASE certification preferred, but not required
  • Bilingual (Spanish a plus)
