About the position

The General Manager for Q3 Contracting's Underground Division in Des Moines, IA, is responsible for overseeing operations in the Midwest region. This role focuses on managing project operations, ensuring quality standards, fostering customer relationships, and driving profitability while supporting the growth and development of the team.

Responsibilities

• Manage project operations throughout the Midwest region, suggesting and initiating operational changes as required.
• Conduct regular staff meetings with managers to promote effective communication across the operational area.
• Monitor and manage the quality process to ensure services meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Oversee project profitability and take corrective actions as necessary.
• Establish and maintain ongoing contact with customers and vendors to enhance relationships.
• Ensure resources are shared across operational areas to optimize effectiveness.
• Assist the Vice President with evaluating capital expenditures and job costs.
• Support the Division Estimator in the bidding process for new projects.
• Develop and improve company personnel, fostering a mentoring environment.
• Communicate with Traffic & Restoration division Managers for resource sharing and job completions.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of industry experience.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration or related field preferred.
• Experience in reading, interpreting, and managing financial statements.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of computers and Windows-based software, with the ability to analyze and recommend operational changes.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
