About the position

Thermon is currently recruiting for a General Manager, Vapor Precision International Product Line working from our company location in Morristown, Tennessee, U.S.A. This individual will have P&L responsibility, $60 million in revenue, lead strategy and product line performance, managing a direct and indirect ~150-person team, working in a matrix organization and leading through influence in the United States and Canada. The General Manager will fill a critical role in the business, partnering with the Thermon executive team. There will also be significant opportunities to grow in leadership responsibility for the person that is successful in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy and product line performance, managing a direct and indirect ~150-person team in the United States and Canada.
  • Manage the financial performance of the product line, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement business strategies to achieve financial goals and drive growth.
  • Ensure all business activities comply with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks.
  • Communicate financial performance and strategic plans to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Accountable for the results of the sales and operations functions to meet performance objectives.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to grow revenue and market share.
  • Motivate sales personnel to achieve yearly sales goals.
  • Set clear goals and objectives for the commercial organization and drive accountability.
  • Assess the effectiveness of the current sales team and organizational structure.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with customers, distributors, and subsidiaries.
  • Establish commercial and operational targets to meet company objectives.
  • Drive a strong growth forecasting and ensure the budget aligns with this forecast.
  • Implement approved distribution strategies and manage multiple channel selling strategies.
  • Achieve the annual safety and health performance targets while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Be an effective business partner with key stakeholders including Engineering, Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Operations, and Research and Development.

Requirements

  • Possess superior business acumen with an undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering or a related field.
  • Be a strong cross-cultural communicator and relationship builder at all levels of internal and client organization(s).
  • Possess 10 years+ experience leading a product management or sales team with international responsibility.
  • Bring at least 15 years of experience in direct sales of highly engineered industrial products.
  • Demonstrate well-developed business acumen and be able to balance a strategic focus with day-to-day performance.
  • Excellent people leader skills capable of inspiring and developing a best-in-class organization.
  • Have proven experience in the restructuring or repositioning of a sales team.
  • Demonstrate strong technical ability with regards to understanding and communicating technology and specifications to customers.
  • Be a proven sales leader with additional experience in marketing, business and market development.
  • Operate as a collaborator and partner effectively with senior leadership team and functional leaders in a matrixed environment.
  • Be able to travel extensively when needed.
  • Have experience with the utilization and deployment of CRM tools.

  • MBA, MS or similar degrees would also be a plus.
  • Preference to strong knowledge/experience in Electrical boilers business.
