About The Position

As a General Merchandise Team Leader at Target, you will be responsible for ensuring a consistent experience for our guests by managing product set, stock levels, pricing, and promotional signage on the sales floor. You will lead the General Merchandise and Food Sales team, overseeing inbound and outbound processes, inventory accuracy, and fulfillment work. This role provides an opportunity to develop skills in guest service, retail business fundamentals, and team leadership. You will work closely with the Executive Team Leader (ETL) to execute daily and weekly workloads, assess team performance, and create a guest-first culture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 18 or older.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Capability to remain focused in a fast-paced environment.
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in retail management or team leadership.
  • Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising processes.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a service culture that prioritizes the guest service experience.
  • Execute daily/weekly workload to deliver on department and store sales goals.
  • Help lead the understanding of operational procedures and their impact on profitability and inventory accuracy.
  • Empower the team to create a consistent experience for guests.
  • Assist in executing processes in inbound, outbound, replenishment, and pricing.
  • Work with Closing teams to ensure the store is guest ready.
  • Create a scheduling plan based on business workload and guest traffic.
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for team members.
  • Lead and coach the team to ensure accuracy and efficiency in all GM processes.
  • Work a flexible schedule that aligns with guest and business needs.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Lead a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
  • Support guest services and address store needs as required.
