About the position

The General Store Manager at Dairy Queen is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the restaurant, ensuring exceptional customer service, and managing both the dining room and kitchen functions. This role involves leading a team, optimizing sales and profits, and maintaining a positive environment for both customers and staff. The manager will also focus on professional development and creating memorable experiences for fans of the Dairy Queen brand.

Responsibilities

  • Manage dining room and kitchen functions to ensure an excellent fan experience.
  • Greet and welcome fans enthusiastically to the Dairy Queen brand.
  • Exceed fan expectations by delivering timely and quality service.
  • Develop the restaurant's business plan in collaboration with the owner.
  • Manage restaurant profit and loss to optimize sales and profit.
  • Ensure compliance with Dairy Queen brand standards, including inventory and cash controls.
  • Hire, train, coach, and develop the store management team and hourly crew members.
  • Create and maintain a positive, safe, clean, and inviting environment for fans and team members.
  • Prioritize food safety training and enforce safe food handling practices.
  • Incorporate PRIDE systems and routines into daily operations.
  • Resolve fan concerns and adhere to Dairy Queen's service recovery standards.
  • Maintain a cooperative and harmonious working relationship with management and team members.
  • Attract new fans and increase restaurant sales through marketing promotions and community relations.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of restaurant management experience, preferably in quick service restaurants.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong hospitality and customer service skills.
  • Proven track record of managing cost of goods sold (COGS) and labor effectively.
  • Strong knowledge of safe food handling practices and must be ServSafe certifiable.
  • Excellent coaching and employee development skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Comfortable standing for entire shifts and able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature ranges.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of overseeing multiple aspects of the business in a fast-paced environment.
