The General Warehouse Associate position at HD Supply involves working in various departments within a distribution center, including case picking, shipping, receiving, returns, loading, order processing, and replenishment. The role requires the operation of material handling equipment to efficiently move inventory throughout the facility. Associates will be responsible for ensuring that products are accurately located and delivered to designated areas, assisting with the staging and loading of orders into trucks for customer delivery, and verifying the quantity and quality of incoming products from vendors and distribution centers. In addition to these tasks, the General Warehouse Associate will utilize packing list information to collect items for customer orders, which includes building and wrapping pallets of products. The position also involves examining and inspecting stock items for wear and defects, notifying management of any inventory issues, and returning misplaced products to their proper storage areas. Maintaining a clean working environment in accordance with company safety policies is essential, as is performing inventory control functions as needed. The role operates under general supervision, allowing for some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies and procedures. Complex or unusual problems are referred to a supervisor, and the work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor. The work environment is generally comfortable but may expose associates to factors that could cause noticeable discomfort or moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes. Physical demands include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive movements.
