About the position

The Global Clinical Strategy Lead (GCSL) at Smith+Nephew is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to collect clinical and economic evidence that supports the introduction and adoption of new products in the Orthopaedics portfolio. This role involves providing strategic clinical direction throughout the product life cycle, ensuring compliance with regulations, and addressing evidence gaps through various clinical activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement plans to collect clinical and economic evidence for new products.
  • Provide strategic clinical direction for the Orthopaedics portfolio.
  • Work with New Product Development and Marketing teams to establish user needs and develop evidence generation strategies.
  • Initiate and lead clinical evidence generation activities with clinicians and clinical sites.
  • Generate documents in support of evidence generation activities, including study proposals and reports.
  • Develop publication strategies and write scientific papers and abstracts.
  • Communicate strategies and findings from clinical activities to cross-functional partners.
  • Respond to questions from regulatory authorities to ensure adherence to regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or PhD preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical devices or pharmaceutical organizations in Clinical, Research & Development, Scientific and Medical Affairs, or Regulatory roles.
  • Experience in developing strategies to generate clinical evidence and managing clinical evidence generation activities.
  • Experience in the Orthopaedics field is desirable.
  • Excellent scientific/technical writing skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working directly with clinicians and clinical sites.
  • Strategic thinking capabilities to develop deliverable strategies considering regulatory and commercial standards.
