About the position

The position at Blue Origin involves leading the development and integration of guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) sensor hardware and systems for lunar lander vehicles. This role is crucial for ensuring safe and repeatable space flight, contributing to the company's mission of enabling millions of people to live and work in space. The candidate will work within a diverse team of engineers, overseeing the full lifecycle of GN&C systems from concept to deployment, while coordinating efforts across multiple disciplines and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning and coordination of resources necessary to successfully deliver and integrate GN&C sensors and related hardware to lunar lander vehicle systems.
  • Collaborate in the development of navigation and sensor hardware requirements from system-level specifications with flow-downs to subsystem and component levels, and companion verification methods.
  • Lead and coordinate the design, development, integration, testing, and overall lifecycle management of GN&C hardware components and systems.
  • Coordinate the design of sensor architecture and hardware configurations through design studies and sensor performance trade-offs.
  • Perform and guide testing and analysis of sensor hardware, including laboratory and flight testing, shock/vibration, thermal vacuum, and radiation environments, to validate top-level system specifications.

Requirements

  • Experience in guidance, navigation, and control (GN&C) systems development.
  • Strong background in sensor hardware design and integration.
  • Proven leadership skills in coordinating cross-discipline engineering teams.
  • Ability to manage the full lifecycle of engineering projects from concept to deployment.
  • Familiarity with testing methodologies for aerospace hardware.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with lunar lander systems or similar aerospace applications.
  • Knowledge of ITAR regulations and compliance.
  • Familiarity with software tools for simulation and analysis of GN&C systems.
