Cobra Southeast Construction Services is seeking an Experienced Utility Locator, GPR Scan Technician to join our team in Atlanta, GA. This position is part of a nationwide search for top-tier scanning technicians and craftsmen. As a GPR Scanning Technician, you will be responsible for performing ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scans to locate utilities and other subsurface structures. You will work closely with a team of experienced GPR technicians in a supportive atmosphere, participating in quarterly division meetings to address challenges and share insights. Daily access to the Division Manager will provide you with the opportunity for consultations and advice, ensuring that you have the support you need to succeed in your role. This position offers year-round work, and you will be provided with a company vehicle, gas card, and all necessary GPR and EM locating equipment. You will also receive safety equipment and tools to perform your job effectively. Responsibilities

  • Perform ground-penetrating radar (GPR) scans to locate utilities and subsurface structures.
  • Differentiate and identify GPR targets based on scanning results.
  • Interpret B-Scan and C-Scan data to provide accurate reports.
  • Complete detailed reports after each job, documenting findings and actions taken.
  • Communicate clearly with customers and cutters regarding job requirements and findings.
  • Operate and maintain the company van and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Arrive on time to jobs and adhere to all safety requirements during operations.
  • Lift and move equipment weighing up to 100 lbs as necessary.
  • Work out-of-town for 1-2 weeks per year as required, particularly in Chicago.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations essential to job performance.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience with GPR structure scanning.
  • Knowledge of GPR and EM locating theory.
  • Ability to differentiate and identify GPR targets.
  • Ability to interpret B-Scan and C-Scan data accurately.
  • Understanding of the structural composition of concrete slabs.
  • Ability to complete detailed reports after each job.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history.
  • Willingness to work days, nights, weekends, and out of town if necessary.
  • Steel toe leather work boots are required.
  • Documentation proving a minimum of 3 years of GPR scanning experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • CAD knowledge is a plus.
  • Familiarity with GPS, GIS, and Total Station technology.
