About the position

The Graduate Mechanical Engineer position at Worley is designed for recent graduates who are eager to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting. This role supports the development and design of various equipment, components, systems, and data for refineries, chemical plants, and renewable energy facilities. As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, you will work under the supervision of a Project Lead or a Senior Mechanical Engineer, performing a variety of assignments that apply basic engineering theories, techniques, and practices. You will be trained in the utilization of relevant regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry practices, gaining exposure to the procedures and processes that govern the engineering field. In this role, you will be involved in the development of deliverables for the procurement of rotating, static, and material handling equipment. You will also support the material engineering and design of specific equipment needs, which will require you to learn how to interpret facility schematic drawings such as Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and equipment layouts. Additionally, you will be expected to learn specific software tools for engineering and design purposes, as well as assist in the preparation of material and minor equipment specifications and requisition packages for inquiry and purchase. A keen awareness of safety protocols is essential, as you will be required to perform job walks in operating facilities while wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). This may also necessitate obtaining government-issued TWIC identification. Responsibilities

  • Perform job responsibilities in Mechanical Engineering department under the direction of the Project Lead or a Senior Mechanical Engineer
  • Support the development of deliverables for the procurement of Rotating, Static and Material Handling equipment
  • Support the material engineering and design of specific equipment needs
  • Learn to interpret facility schematic drawings such as PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment layouts
  • Learn specific software for the engineering and design of equipment
  • Support the preparation of material and minor equipment specifications
  • Support the preparation of minor equipment requisition packages for inquiry and purchase
  • Maintain keen safety awareness
  • Perform job walks wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) in an operating facility, potentially requiring government-issued TWIC identification

Requirements

  • Recognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or University required
  • Less than 2 years of experience with engineering
  • Basic understanding of regulations, codes, manufacturing standards, and industry standard practices
  • Willingness to work in the Monrovia office
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English required
