About the position

As an Account Sales Manager at Grainger, you will play a crucial role in driving positive sales growth within a designated geography or vertical market. You will manage an average of 30-35 current accounts, generating annual sales ranging from $2 to $3.5 million. Your primary responsibility will be to understand customer goals and remain responsive to their evolving needs. Utilizing Grainger's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, Salesforce, you will perform all aspects of business operations daily, ensuring that you are aligned with customer expectations and market trends. In this position, you will demonstrate a thorough understanding of market data and leverage available resources to quickly adapt to new developments in your customers' businesses. You will oversee managed inventory tasks, which will help you gain deeper insights into your customers, expand your contacts within their organizations, and ultimately enhance sales results. A key aspect of your role will be to articulate Grainger's Value Proposition, providing tailored solutions that foster profitable sales growth. You will also be responsible for developing account penetration strategies, which will include conducting regular business reviews with essential customers to maximize sales opportunities. This proactive approach will ensure that you are not only meeting but exceeding customer expectations, thereby solidifying Grainger's position as a trusted partner in their operations.

Responsibilities

  • Produce positive sales growth for a specific geography or vertical market.
  • Manage an average of 30-35 current accounts with annual sales of $2 to $3.5 million.
  • Utilize Salesforce CRM to perform daily business operations.
  • Understand customer goals and respond to changing customer needs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of market data and resources to respond to new developments.
  • Oversee managed inventory tasks to enhance customer understanding and increase sales results.
  • Understand Grainger's Value Proposition and provide solutions for profitable sales growth.
  • Develop account penetration strategies and conduct regular business reviews with essential customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of direct outside sales experience.
  • Experience in sales forecasting, opportunity management, and customer planning.
  • Willingness to travel to each customer within the aligned market at least once per month.
  • Process discipline and ability to align planning goals with pipeline development to grow market revenue.
  • Ability to utilize sales processes to uncover customer objections and determine appropriate solutions.
  • High School diploma or GED.
