About the position

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Graphic Artist/Illustrator to support our potential facilities management contract in Panama City, FL. This position involves the conception, planning, preparation, and creation of visual materials such as concept renderings, illustrations, publications, logos, diagrams, displays, graphs, and other means of communicating. The role requires producing complex computer-generated and traditionally created illustrations and artwork, utilizing a variety of software tools and techniques to meet customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Conception, planning, preparation, and creation of visual materials such as concept renderings, illustrations, publications, logos, diagrams, displays, graphs, and other means of communicating.
  • Produce complex computer-generated and traditionally created illustrations and artwork, including perspective renderings.
  • Use visual elements to communicate messages through print and electronic media.
  • Plan, design, and execute graphics products that are effective for the medium being used and convey the customer's message.
  • Select, acquire, scan, edit, and format visual material for publications in print and other media using various software tools.
  • Research customer needs personally and/or through meetings.
  • Make initial artistic decisions for color schemes, lighting, size, and placement of material to be presented.
  • Prepare materials such as photographs, illustrations, charts, and legends.
  • Utilize mainstream computer graphics, video editing, and publication software including MS Office, CorelDRAW, Adobe Creative Suite, and Corel Painter.
  • Dry-mount, matte, and frame images and posters as needed.
  • Work in both MS Windows and MAC environments.
  • Other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent education in Fine Arts or Commercial Arts.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related full-time work experience in graphic arts and technical illustration.
  • Demonstrated experience producing artist concept renderings, technical illustrations, and graphic designs.
  • Experience selecting and working with various forms of art media, from traditional to modern digital tools.
  • Skilled in determining composition, design, and appropriate media to depict a broad range of technical concepts.
  • Experience working with a broad range of applications and associated hardware such as scanners, tablets, and printers.
  • Submission of a portfolio demonstrating proof of talent and skills within this discipline.
  • Additional skill sets such as three-dimensional (3-D) modeling and animation applications are desirable but not required.
