The Green House Facility Manager at Nebraska Indian Community College is a full-time, exempt, salaried position responsible for overseeing the greenhouse operations at both the Macy and Santee campuses. This role is structured around a 12-month contract, requiring a minimum of 40 hours of work per week, divided into three primary areas: Service (60%), Teaching (30%), and Research (10%). The individual in this position will act as the Greenhouse Facilities Manager, ensuring that all greenhouse operations and growing systems are designed and maintained effectively. This includes conducting non-credit workshops related to greenhouse management, horticulture, entrepreneurship, and food sovereignty, as well as coordinating community engagement activities. The manager will also serve as a voting member on various committees, including the Academic Council and Faculty Senate, and participate in additional committees, workshops, and community outreach initiatives. In the teaching component of the role, the Green House Facility Manager will be responsible for course instruction, which includes office hours, class preparation, grading, and intercampus travel. The coursework may cover topics such as greenhouse management, growing systems (including hydroponics, aquaponics, and traditional soil-based systems), and an introduction to horticulture and gardening. The research aspect of the position involves conducting assessments at various academic levels, supervising student research and service-learning projects, and engaging in independent research activities.
