About The Position

The Ground System Engineer at Lockheed Martin is a specialized role within the Flight Test team, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance in flight test operations. This position requires expertise in system administration, troubleshooting complex hardware/software issues, and maintaining configuration control. The engineer will perform readiness tests, manage documentation, and ensure asset readiness for testing, all while working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent aviation experience/combined education.
• Ability to obtain and retain DoD IAT Level II certification (Security +).
• System Administration knowledge and experience on Windows platforms.
• Knowledge of avionics systems and/or flight test concepts.
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux operating systems certification is desired.
• System Administration experience with network storage (SAN/NAS servers).
• Complex troubleshooting/problem solving skills.
• Familiarization with RF technology and experience working with fiber optics.
• Knowledge of Cisco and/or Juniper network equipment.
• Willingness to work different shifts and weekends.
• Ability to acquire a Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Act as a system expert within the Flight Test team.
• Perform computer administration functions including software installations and upgrades.
• Conduct real-time troubleshooting of complex hardware/software anomalies.
• Execute readiness tests to verify system functionality.
• Perform pre and post system checkouts to ensure asset readiness for test.
• Ensure all paperwork and configuration management tracking is correct prior to test.
• Write and issue test documentation for maintenance tasks and maintain configuration control.
