About the position

The Grounds Maintenance Level I employee is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks at an 18-hole golf course during the summer and a ski and snow tubing hill during the winter. This full-time position requires skills in landscaping, snow removal, and equipment operation, ensuring the safety and upkeep of the facilities.

Responsibilities

• Mow and trim all turf areas weekly during the growing season using tractors and hand mowers and trimmers.
• Perform landscaping work including installing and maintaining trees, shrubs, landscape beds, wetlands, ponds, wooded areas, prairie/meadows, and mowed and woodchip trails.
• Remove snow from parking lots and sidewalks.
• Assist in snow making for winter sports operations and groom ski hills, terrain park, and tubing hill.
• Ensure proper adjustment and operation of equipment to accomplish tasks as required.
• Remove garbage from golf course and facilities.
• Report unsafe conditions and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations.
• Maintain CPR certification as required by the park district.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to obtain an Illinois Pesticide Operators License.
• Prior experience in parks maintenance.
• Valid Illinois Drivers License and ability to provide own transportation.
