About the position

The HANCO EMS Paramedic is responsible for delivering pre-hospital and trauma care in compliance with established medical protocols and state and federal laws. This role is critical as HANCO EMS serves as the primary 911 provider for the local community, offering a range of medical transport services.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver pre-hospital and trauma care within the scope of certification level, including scene survey, triage, assessment, extrication, stabilization, treatment, transporting, and communication.
  • Transport patients to the nearest appropriate hospital or medical facility, considering patient preferences and situation severity.
  • Complete all required reports accurately and obtain necessary signatures, ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Record all required information into the Ohio State Reporting program accurately.
  • Restock all supplies used during calls and ensure all equipment is returned to its appropriate location.
  • Sanitize and disinfect the transport vehicle and equipment as needed.
  • Participate in all debriefing sessions after calls.
  • Stay updated on job-related pre-hospital procedures and regulations.
  • Participate in monthly training events or CEU classes to maintain certification and licensure.
  • Perform daily and weekly vehicle inspections and become knowledgeable about equipment placement on the Mobile Intensive Care unit.
  • Become proficient in the operation of all equipment carried on response vehicles.
  • Participate in building and grounds maintenance.

Requirements

  • Ohio Division of EMS certification as a Paramedic.
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days.
  • Current Healthcare Provider Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification within 30 days.
  • Valid driver's license required, with the need to obtain an Ohio driver's license within 30 days if not already held.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care.
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 6 months of employment.
  • NIMS IS-100, 200, 700 and 800 certifications within 6 months of employment.
  • NIMS ICS 300 and 400 certifications within 6 months of employment.
  • HazMat Awareness Level certification within 6 months of employment.
  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification within 6 months of employment.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification within 1 year of employment.
  • CEVO (Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator course) certification within 1 year of employment.
