About the position

As the Hardware Leader at Carbon Robotics, you will be responsible for driving the hardware engineering team to create, maintain, and evolve innovative products that meet the demanding needs of our customers. This role involves close collaboration with manufacturing and cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality hardware products that align with cost and performance requirements. You will lead the mechanical and electrical engineering teams, manage the hardware engineering budget, and establish relationships with suppliers to support product development.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical and electrical engineering teams in developing, testing, releasing, and supporting hardware products and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, software engineering, product management, operations, and support, to deliver high-quality products.
  • Ensure that all hardware products meet quality, cost, and performance requirements.
  • Optimize product design to minimize manufacturing cost and complexity.
  • Manage the hardware engineering budget, including resource allocation and project prioritization.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and partners to support hardware product development and delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in hardware engineering, with at least 7 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of hardware development processes, including design, testing, and manufacturing, preferably in ag-tech and/or automotive.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality hardware products and systems on time and within budget.
  • Experience with product NPI through to assembly line scale.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience with SolidWorks, SolidWorks Electrical, SolidWorks PDM, Asana, Confluence, and the Google Suite preferred.
