Hardware Test Engineer

About the position

Flock Safety needs this Hardware Test Engineer to help ensure our systems run smoothly and work together as we grow. As our product lineup expands, the integrations between parts become more complex. This role is crucial for spotting and fixing potential issues before they become problems for customers. By setting up solid testing processes, this engineer will make sure all the pieces of our hardware work well together, even as we add new features. The focus will also be on improving our testing methods and working closely with other teams to make development faster and products more reliable. This role is key to keeping Flock's hardware performing at a high level for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve hardware issues, including circuit board debugging and component-level troubleshooting.
• Develop and execute test scripts to validate hardware functionality and identify defects.
• Proficiently use Python scripting for test automation, particularly in embedded systems environments (Android and Linux preferred).
• Utilize shell scripting (Bash) in a Unix environment.
• Operate hardware lab equipment, including oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
• Write code and perform hands-on testing, demonstrating a blend of software and hardware expertise.
• Design and document comprehensive hardware validation strategies, including testing protocols, timelines, and tool integration.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering and other teams on hardware testing projects, contributing to efficient validation processes.
• Identify potential risks in hardware validation and develop mitigation plans.
• Refine hardware testing methodologies through participation in retrospectives and implementation of process improvements.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve hardware issues, including circuit board debugging and component-level troubleshooting.
• Experience in developing and executing test scripts to validate hardware functionality and identify defects.
• Proficient in Python scripting for test automation, particularly in embedded systems environments (Android and Linux preferred).
