About the position

The position involves servicing and troubleshooting plant rolling stock and heavy equipment, with a particular focus on forklifts. The role requires maintaining and improving the preventive maintenance program, emphasizing safety, quality, continuous improvement, and production efficiency. The technician will work in compliance with all company safety policies, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE). Responsibilities also include project justification, risk management, troubleshooting, goal setting, cause and effect analysis, progress evaluation, project completion, and follow-up. The technician will be responsible for ordering parts, maintaining inventory, and communicating effectively with plant and supervisory personnel. Additionally, the role requires reading and understanding service manuals, maintaining required documentation, and using a work order system to track maintenance and schedule preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Service and troubleshoot plant rolling stock and heavy equipment, focusing on forklifts.
• Maintain and improve the preventive maintenance program with a focus on safety, quality, continuous improvement, and production.
• Comply with all company safety policies and utilize required PPE while working.
• Engage in project justification, risk management, troubleshooting, goal setting, cause and effect analysis, progress evaluation, project completion, and follow-up.
• Order parts and maintain inventory.
• Communicate efficiently and timely with plant and supervisory personnel.
• Read and understand service manuals.
• Maintain required documentation and use a work order system to track maintenance and schedule preventive maintenance.

Requirements

• Knowledge of and experience with hydraulic pumps and components, automatic transmissions, electrical and electronic systems, brake, exhaust, fuel (gas, diesel, and propane), cooling systems, and welding/fabricating.
• Good communication skills and demonstrated experience troubleshooting and maintaining rolling stock in an industrial environment.
• Basic computer knowledge of Word and Excel and ability to utilize a work order system to track maintenance and schedule preventative maintenance.

Nice-to-haves

• Minimum of 5 years forklift and heavy equipment repair experience preferred.
