About the position
The Head of Engineering at Howl is a leadership role responsible for driving the technical vision and overseeing engineering operations. This position aims to align engineering functions with broader business objectives while fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. The role involves managing engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines, as well as enhancing communication between engineering, data, product, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Oversee Engineering and Engineering leadership
- Develop and execute the technology roadmap to align with business goals and market demands
- Lead, mentor, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
- Oversee the design, development, and operations of product architecture and infrastructure
- Implement best practices for software development
- Manage engineering budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines effectively
- Enhance collaboration rituals for building, decision-making, and planning
- Work closely with the executive team to align engineering and data initiatives with overall product and business strategy
- Facilitate communication between engineering, data, product, and other key stakeholders
- Drive innovation by staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies
- Performance manage and grow the engineering team
Requirements
- Proven experience (10+ years) in engineering leadership roles
- Experience (5+ years) in building and managing a data strategy, data engineering, and analytics teams
- Strong understanding of data architecture and management
- Deep knowledge of modern technology stacks and software development practices
- Demonstrated ability to hire and manage cross-functional teams in a fast-paced startup environment
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be US based
