About the position

The Head Start Program Paraprofessional will work closely with children with behavioral difficulties, providing support and implementing behavior intervention plans. The role focuses on enhancing the quality of life for clients through effective behavioral therapy and patient care, while adhering to ethical practices and HIPAA regulations. This is a part-time, temporary position during the school year with major holidays and summers off.

Responsibilities

• Implement individualized care plans tailored to the specific needs of clients.
• Provide direct support to individuals with developmental disabilities and autism.
• Monitor and document client progress and behaviors in accordance with established protocols.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including education professionals.
• Engage clients in therapeutic activities designed to improve social skills and emotional regulation.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards in all interactions.

Requirements

• Experience working with young children with developmental disabilities and/or behavior challenges.
• Knowledge of special education practices and behavioral therapy techniques.
• Familiarity with creating and implementing care plans that address individual needs.
• Strong understanding of patient care principles and behavioral health practices.
• Ability to effectively communicate with children and adults, demonstrating patience and empathy.
• Proficient in recognizing and responding to the unique challenges faced by clients in various settings.
• Commitment to continuous professional development in the field of behavior analysis and therapy.
