About The Position

The Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Technician role at Belcan involves supporting various health and safety initiatives within the organization. This position is crucial for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, assisting in incident prevention, and promoting a safe working environment. The technician will work closely with management and team members to implement safety programs and respond to emergencies, contributing to the overall health and safety culture of the company.

Requirements

  • College Degree required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Safety-related experience and a proven track record of teamwork.
  • Proficient in computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and learning management systems.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work independently.
  • Experience in safety and health training preferred.
  • Ability to lift 25-40 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Incident Prevention Committee activities including quarterly campaigns and near-miss follow-up.
  • Review Hazardous Work Permits to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Transfer Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures to a new template and update revisions as necessary.
  • Conduct Contractor & Guest Program checks including ISN status and training check-ins.
  • Assist Managers with scheduling for 'On-Call' Yellow Dot and maintain the team calendar.
  • Support Safety Events and Wellness Initiatives such as Safety Day and Earth Day.
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs, licensing, and ensure vehicles are ready for use.
  • Organize equipment storage trailers and rooms for efficient access.
  • Manage Emergency Response instrumentation including repairs and calibrations.
  • Follow up on equipment review action items to ensure completion.
  • Support the Site OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) and follow up with SSHE Team Members.
  • Assist in updating Emergency Maps for safety protocols.
  • Develop and update training slides for various safety programs.
  • Update safety program documentation to the latest versions.
  • Conduct safety island spot checks and follow up on findings.
  • Provide training for Emergency Response Procedures and Styker Chair Training.
  • Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Committee if desired.
  • Support the Ergonomics and Office Wellness Committee initiatives.
  • Perform SDS entry spot checks for STL and Warehouses.
  • Manage and order office supplies as needed.
