About the position

As a Backend Senior Engineer on the Device Management Team, you will play a pivotal role in leading the development of the Device Management suite of Platform Systems. This position involves participating in uplift and modernization efforts for the Best Buy Health Live!y Products, which are essential for enabling the business to support our customers effectively. Your contributions will ensure that our customers can rely on their devices for urgent care needs, making your role critical to our success in meeting these needs. This role is remote eligible, allowing you to work virtually from home or any other US-based location that is not a Best Buy Health office. You will be responsible for writing secure and high-quality code while adhering to best syntax standards with minimal guidance. Your duties will include designing, developing, troubleshooting, and supporting code reviews, taking into account both upstream and downstream backend systems. You will lead the triage of complex issues across production environments and manage multiple tasks concurrently in a collaborative manner. Additionally, you will contribute to fostering a team culture that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect, while also coaching and mentoring mid-level Software Engineers. Other responsibilities may include production support during off-hours as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Write secure and high-quality code following best syntax standards with limited guidance.
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, and support code reviews considering upstream and downstream backend systems.
  • Lead and effectively manage the triage of complex issues across systems in production environments and locally.
  • Manage multiple tasks concurrently, efficiently in a collaborative way.
  • Contribute to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.
  • Coach and mentor mid-level Software Engineers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including production support at off hours.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
  • Minimum 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Knowledgeable about software design patterns and algorithms.
  • Experience in AWS microservices environment.
  • Proficiency in .NET C# coding skills including unit tests and API development.
  • Working knowledge of NoSQL database engines such as MongoDB.
  • Experience with Software Configuration Management and CI/CD.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience with event messaging systems such as MQTT, RabbitMQ.
  • Experience with technologies and tools such as Kafka, NiFi, Kubernetes, AWS.
  • Experience with monitoring services such as DataDog.
