About the position

This position is for a Social Worker in Crow Agency, MT, under the Federal service. To qualify, candidates must demonstrate sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. This includes both paid and unpaid experience, such as volunteer work through National Service programs like the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps. Candidates must clearly identify their duties and responsibilities in each position held, including the total number of hours worked per week. The basic requirement for this position is a degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Applicants must have completed all requirements for a master's degree in social work that included a practicum to be eligible for GS-9. In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must meet minimum qualifications, which include at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 in the Federal service, performing tasks such as assisting patients and families in utilizing community resources, reporting on involuntarily committed patients, serving as a liaison among patients, physicians, and agencies, and providing therapy and treatment to psychiatric patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients and their families in utilizing available community, state, and federal resources for improving their social, physical, and psychological health.
  • Report on patients who are involuntarily committed.
  • Serve as a liaison between patient, physician/clinic, or other members of the team including community, state, and federal agencies.
  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly statistical and narrative reports on all services provided.
  • Provide individual and family therapy to patients.
  • Provide diagnosis, treatments, consultations, and referral services to psychiatric patients.
  • Analyze health needs of patients to determine appropriate care needs and treatments.
  • Develop treatment plans, referrals, and appropriate interventions for various crisis situations.
  • Adhere to hospital and department safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited institution.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-09 in the Federal service.
  • Current State license to practice as an independent clinical social worker.
