About the position

The Helpdesk - IT Specialist position is an entry-level role within the IT Team at Steel Dynamics, Inc. (SDI) Southwest Division. This position reports directly to a Lead Helpdesk or IT Supervisor and is responsible for providing technical support and assistance with the installation and maintenance of computer hardware, software, and networking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the installation and maintenance of all computer hardware and software
  • Assisting with the support of all aspects of LAN-based networking
  • Assisting with the installation and maintenance of voice systems, including cabling, phones, headsets, and software
  • Cabling new and existing locations for new network, computers, phones, or other equipment such as printers
  • Repairing or upgrading computer systems as needed
  • Providing Tier 1 level support on hardware and software technical issues
  • Creation of Active Directory Users and Groups, and modifying/changing permissions for users or groups
  • Assisting with the creation, updating, and management of computer images
  • Preparing documentation to assist end-user adoption of new and existing tools
  • Working in the ticketing tool to fulfill all end-user incidents and requests in compliance with agreed SLAs
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the lead or IT supervisor

Requirements

  • Must be a computer course student, graduate, or have computer-related work experience
  • Knowledge of Windows 10 and 11 required, Servers 2022 and above preferred
  • Computer certifications: CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or similar (Google)
