The Licensed Special Education Teacher at Henry Ford Academy plays a crucial role in developing and providing specialized instruction tailored to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. Under the guidance of the Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and Special Education Coordinator, the teacher is responsible for evaluating and assessing student progress against instructional objectives while adhering to state-mandated due process procedures. This position also functions as the IEP Caseload Manager for assigned students, ensuring that each student's Individualized Educational Program (IEP) is effectively implemented and monitored. The teacher will provide research-based specialized instruction that aligns with the instructional goals and objectives outlined in each student's IEP. This includes assessing student progress to determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques. The teacher will employ various teaching strategies and methods to enable students to achieve their IEP goals, developing and implementing annual IEP plans that detail present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals, and the required special education and related services. Collaboration is key in this role, as the teacher will work closely with child study team members and other educational professionals to develop instructional goals and strategies. The teacher will coordinate the delivery of special education services as specified in each student's IEP and create a positive learning environment that emphasizes individualized instruction, utilizing appropriate resources, including technology and assistive technology. Additionally, the teacher will serve as the primary contact for parents, conduct special education evaluations and reevaluations, and provide direction and supervision to educational assistants as needed. Compliance with Henry Ford Board of Directors policies and all state and federal regulations is essential, along with completing all district and state reporting requirements.
