About the position

The High Performance Computing Consultant, Lead position at Booz Allen Hamilton offers a unique opportunity to leverage technical expertise in high-performance computing (HPC) while contributing to critical civilian missions. This role is designed for individuals who can effectively translate real-world needs into technical specifications, ensuring that the right systems are developed to meet client objectives. As a thought leader in this space, you will be responsible for driving solution development and client delivery, balancing both client and internal needs related to HPC solutions and business development. In this role, you will serve as a technical and managerial Project Lead, supporting client computational science, engineering, and HPC programs. You will oversee all facility activities to ensure that customer goals are met within specified time frames. This includes planning and managing updates, upgrades, and operations and maintenance (O&M) services for clients' supercomputing and artificial intelligence or machine learning infrastructures. Your efforts will provide clients' research staff and collaborators with access to mission-critical computational research platforms and advanced post-processing and visualization capabilities. You will also be responsible for maintaining equipment and providing infrastructure planning support aimed at enhancing capability and capacity. This involves scheduling preventative maintenance, performing software patching and upgrades, planning hardware or software refreshes, and ensuring systems are prepared for disaster recovery. Additionally, you will lead the client's HPC refresh, coordinating work between subcontractors, federal clients, site support personnel, and vendors for the physical changeout of old HPC systems and the installation of new ones. Your role will also include developing client offerings and comprehensive solutions in the HPC domain, producing intellectual capital to support client engagement, sales, business development, and capture efforts. As a key player in the organization, you will be responsible for developing and executing market entry and business expansion strategies, supporting sales activities throughout the sales cycle, and ensuring that client service-level expectations are met by being physically present at client sites as needed to address their needs. Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical and managerial Project Lead for client computational science, engineering, and high-performance computing programs.
  • Oversee all facility activities to ensure customer goals are accomplished within prescribed time frames.
  • Plan and manage updates, upgrades, and O&M services for clients' supercomputing and AI/ML infrastructure.
  • Provide clients' research staff with access to mission-critical computational research platforms and visualization capabilities.
  • Maintain equipment and provide infrastructure planning support to improve capability and capacity.
  • Schedule preventative maintenance and perform patching and upgrading of research software and systems.
  • Plan and implement hardware or software refreshes or upgrades, ensuring systems are prepared for disaster recovery.
  • Lead support for the client's HPC refresh, coordinating work between subcontractors, federal clients, and vendors.
  • Develop client offerings and comprehensive solutions in the HPC space.
  • Produce intellectual capital supportive of client engagement, sales, and business development.
  • Support sales activities throughout the sales cycle and meet client service-level expectations.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a product manager or solutions owner for high-performance computing, including solutions development and implementation at the leadership level.
  • 3+ years of experience delivering artificial intelligence and high-performance computing as a consultant.
  • 3+ years of experience using engineering or scientific high-performance computing.
  • Experience with a broad range of scientific programming, modeling, and data analysis languages and techniques.
  • Experience performing market research and data analysis.
  • Ability to craft and present executive level briefings.
  • Ability to manage timelines, prioritize varying and conflicting client inputs, and build consensus through collaboration and influence.
  • Ability to independently engage internal subject matter experts across science and engineering disciplines to answer client research questions and craft recommendations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements.
  • Master's degree in Engineering or Science.
