About the position

We are seeking a dedicated Medical Technologist to join our team. This role involves performing qualitative and quantitative analysis on specimens received in the laboratory. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the principles of tests performed and a working knowledge of the equipment used in their assigned station. Departments include Micro, Blood Bank, General Lab, Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, and Urology.

Responsibilities

  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on all specimens received in the laboratory for the assigned station.
  • Ensure that all specimens are appropriately stored.
  • Follow all quality control policies and procedures to ensure reliable patient results.
  • Recognize critical or life-threatening results, verify results, and report to the appropriate clinician.
  • Document all results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).

Requirements

  • NYS Clinical Laboratory Technologist License or valid permit issued by NYSDOE Clinical Laboratory to Technology.
  • Knowledge of chemistry and hematology.

Nice-to-haves

  • ASCP certification is preferred but not required if holding a full New York State MLT license.
  • Experience in clinical laboratory settings, specifically in blood bank, chemistry, and hematology.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to quality control procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills for reporting critical results to clinicians.
