About the position

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking dedicated individuals to join our expanding academic Hospitalist Service within the Internal Medicine department. As Long Island's only academic medical center, we pride ourselves on delivering patient and family-centered care in a supportive and collaborative environment. Our 624-bed hospital is experiencing a rapid increase in inpatient volume, leading to openings for both daytime and nocturnist hospitalists. Each hospitalist will be supported by residents or a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, ensuring a manageable patient load and high-quality care delivery. The role involves providing clinical coverage primarily for acute medical patients in both regular and step-down units. Hospitalists will have the opportunity to engage in various aspects of clinical care, including the development and implementation of patient safety initiatives, participation in clinical education, and involvement in clinical research. The rotation schedule consists of 7 days on and 7 days off, with 12-hour shifts during clinical duties, including night shifts. In addition to a competitive salary, which includes an incentive for night service, the position offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous vacation and sick leave, CME days and stipend, and retirement benefits.
