About the position

The Housing Compliance Officer position at the Arizona Department of Housing involves monitoring state and federally assisted rental properties for compliance with various federal and state laws and guidelines. Responsibilities

  • Conduct physical inspections of units for compliance with UPCS and NSPIRE.
  • Perform administrative reviews and audits of records.
  • Ensure units are rented to qualified low-income households.
  • Follow up monitoring visits with written reports.
  • Participate in training opportunities.
  • Assist in updating compliance materials.
  • Review annual reports and maintain organized monitoring files.
  • Travel extensively throughout Arizona to visit properties.

Requirements

  • Sufficient education or job-related experience demonstrating ability to perform duties.
  • Experience or knowledge of rental housing financed through LIHTC, HOME, State Housing Trust Fund, and other public subsidies.
  • Prior property management or monitoring experience preferred.
  • Certificate of training in UPCS, NSPIRE, or Housing Quality Standards (HQS) preferred.
  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret and explain State and Federal regulations.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License and acceptable driving record required.
