About the position

The HR Coordinator - Benefits & Leave plays a crucial role in supporting the human resources department by ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. This position encompasses both administrative and strategic responsibilities, focusing on various HR activities such as maintaining employee data, managing benefits administration, and overseeing leave of absences. The coordinator will also provide backup support to other HR functional areas as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support and assistance for the HR software application to managers and HR staff.
  • Build and run data reports from Kronos and Health Stream.
  • Serve as gatekeeper for HRIS data entry and quality management for new hires, job transfers, and compensation adjustments.
  • Coordinate and document the employee leave program, including FMLA, Military Leave, Medical Leave, and Education Leave.
  • Manage benefits plans within HRIS, ensuring accurate deductions and vendor payments for employee benefits programs.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with benefit vendors to ensure quality information and customer service for employees.
  • Audit vendor invoices and approve payments for services after validating employee benefit enrollment.
  • Coordinate open enrollment, new hire enrollment, terminations, and life event changes.
  • Administer COBRA processes.
  • Assist in setting up new hires in the HRIS system and other internal systems as a backup.
  • Maintain and upload student demographic imports and job function imports in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Perform monthly LEIE sanction checks to ensure employees are not on the OIG Exclusion list.
  • Maintain retirement distribution and withdrawal forms.
  • Assist in the creation of PAR forms and processing changes and terminations as a backup.
  • Verify internal transfers and compensation changes.
  • Collaborate with Employee Health Registered Nurse to facilitate the wellness committee, including scheduling and meeting minutes.
  • Provide backup support at the HR front desk and assist employees, vendors, and visitors with inquiries.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in HR or equivalent job-related experience.
  • Two (2+) years of prior experience in human resources principles and practices.
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; advanced proficiency preferred.
