About the position

Great things are happening at the T. Marzetti Horse Cave Campus and as we continue to grow the T. Marzetti Company is looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence. The position of Human Resources Generalist is responsible for managing Human Resources functions including employee relations, staffing, orientation, benefits administration, payroll, workers compensation, training, safety programs, and compliance to federal, state, and local employment and safety laws and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains positive associate, corporate and community relations.
  • Develop and maintains proactive employee relations programs to maintain non-union status.
  • Participates in associate activities and engagement surveys.
  • Develops and implements successful action plans to address identified disengagement.
  • Practices integrity, respect, accountability, continuous improvement and positive interactions with all Team Members and visitors.
  • Actively participates in Marzetti Operational Excellence, special projects or tasks, and modification programs as needed with prior approval.
  • Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and is involved with improvement/resolutions & follow-up.
  • Maintains highest standard of Safety for all functions on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance for self and others to OSHA standards.
  • Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility.
  • Successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards.
  • Performs daily inspection of power equipment with proper documentation.
  • Completes Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem solving.
  • Completes Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving.
  • Ensures compliance to quality, food safety / HACCP, FSMA, Food Defense, 5S, OSHA and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards.
  • Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary.
  • Develops, coordinates and conducts knowledge/skill, policy and supervisory training for employees/supervisors.
  • Acts as a business partner to plant management team to develop and implement initiatives to support the overall mission of facilities.
  • Oversees HR activities through planning and communication with department managers and supervisors to ensure the overall plant HR objectives are accomplished.
  • Reviews with and advises supervisors and managers on policy interpretations, disciplinary actions and terminations to ensure consistency and fair treatment.
  • Creatively utilizes appropriate channels to establish sourcing pool of talent that generates quality candidates while being cost-effective.
  • Acquires targeted talent with internal customers utilizing a recruiting strategy to establish expectations.
  • Identify ongoing activity to support succession planning.
  • Administers corporate benefits programs.
  • Ensures compliance to all federal, state and local laws and company policies.
  • Compiles and submits information for all required plant/corporate monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Maintains confidential electronic and hard-copy employee data, files and records for the location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources and/or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
  • Prior labor relations experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience in building and sustaining positive culture.
  • Curious about business; with good business sense and judgement.
  • Well-honed analytical and problem-solving skills bringing facts and data to decision-making.
  • Communicates with impact and creates authentic and trusting relationships to influence leadership.
  • Strong coaching, consulting, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to assist in initiating and leading change.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to manage a complex set of stakeholders.
