About the position

The Human Resources Benefits Analyst plays a crucial role in the administration of employee and retirement benefits for Miami-Dade County. This position requires a senior level Subject Matter Expert who will ensure the efficient management of benefits programs, conduct audits, analyze data, and provide counseling to employees and retirees regarding their benefits options. The analyst will also support the implementation of benefits initiatives and maintain effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and manage County Active and Retiree benefit programs.
  • Conduct audits and analyze data to ensure compliance with benefits policies and regulations.
  • Provide confidential retirement and benefits counseling to employees and retirees.
  • Build relationships with employees and retirees to facilitate understanding of benefits options.
  • Support the implementation and management of benefits initiatives and disseminate information to departments.
  • Assist with administrative functions during open enrollment and other related activities.
  • Conduct audits and reconciliation of various benefits-related discrepancies and reports.
  • Manage the administration of benefits for municipalities, including enrollment and termination processes.
  • Coordinate Open Enrollment activities and maintain effective communication with vendors and departmental representatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of experience in administering employee benefit programs or conducting business analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and technical expertise in benefits administration.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Florida Retirement System (FRS) and Deferred Compensation plans.
  • Knowledge of state legislation affecting employee benefits.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
