About the position

The Personnel Coordinator - Benefits Administration at Trustco Bank is responsible for assisting in the administration of various employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability. This role also involves compiling and recording employee time and payroll data, ensuring accurate processing of benefits claims, and supporting the HR team in various administrative tasks related to employee benefits and recruitment.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to employee telephone calls, requests, and questions regarding benefits.
  • Administer employee benefits programs such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, workers' compensation, disability, and life insurance.
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure changes are entered for payroll deductions and ACA reporting.
  • Assist employees with health, dental, life, and other benefits claims.
  • Administer COBRA benefits.
  • Assist HR Manager with benefits reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate workers' compensation claims with third-party administrators and follow up on claims.
  • Assist with processing terminations and recruitment/interview processes.
  • File documents into appropriate personnel files.
  • Prepare correspondence related to all benefit plans.
  • Administer and maintain NMLS Registry.
  • Handle onboarding paperwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education or experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently and in groups.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs, particularly Excel and Word.

Nice-to-haves

  • A bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
  • Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR).
  • Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional Certification (SHRM-CP).
