About The Position

The Human Resources Generalist position focuses on employee benefits and provides a variety of confidential, administrative, and professional-level work for human resources services and programs. This role is essential in supporting the recruitment, selection, and management of employee benefits, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and promoting social justice within the community college system.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of an AA/AS degree in human resources management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Two years of technical work in human resources functions may substitute for one year of college education.
  • At least two years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in human resources functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working to support employee benefits, including processing enrollments and qualifying event changes.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, explain, and present human resources issues, policies, and procedures to employees and management.
  • Prepare various reports, charts, memos, and correspondence; analyze information and generate reports from HRIS.
  • Assist in developing reports and responses for management and the Governing Board.
  • Monitor and audit accuracy of transactions in HRIS; enter or modify data and develop reports.
  • Conduct research and work on special projects; manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
  • Coordinate and monitor the recruitment and selection program; assist in job description development and screening processes.
  • Conduct employment processes including reference checks and background investigations.
  • Support collective bargaining negotiation activities and perform research related to salary and benefits analyses.
  • Assist in planning and implementing the District's benefit program operations.
  • Coordinate and process claims related to workers' compensation and employee leaves.
