About the position

A successful HR Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. They are expected to take initiative with little supervision, be a collaborative team player and participate in team projects, prioritize tasks based on team goals and needs, must be extremely organized yet flexible, communicate effectively about workflows and priorities, lead with professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
  • Full cycle recruitment including job postings, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
  • Assist with new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Report and maintain Workers Compensation claims and OSHA log.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
  • Act as the primary contact for all HR related needs.
  • Assist with Payroll as needed.
  • Process reports weekly, monthly, and on demand.
  • Successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • May oversee the scheduling, assignments, and daily workflow of subordinate staff in the department.
  • May assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Lead and assist with various other HR support functions, projects and duties assigned by leadership.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of Human Resources for an organization of 200+ employees.
  • Solid understanding of benefit management processes.
  • Experience with general HR compliance projects and an excitement for getting involved in People projects.
  • Excellent skills with problem-solving, organization, follow through, with unparalleled attention to detail.
  • Collaboration skills for our team environment; a track record of establishing and maintaining positive relations with internal and external contacts.
  • Embody integrity, trustworthiness, reliability, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to communicate (written & verbal) effectively and establish trusted working relationships with team members at all levels.
  • Innate attention to detail, confidentiality, and passion to serve your ‘customers’ with accurate and knowledgeable information.
  • Is tech-savvy and acclimates easily to new and various technology.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
  • Must be eager to receive and share feedback.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in Human Resources preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.
