About the position

Middle Georgia State University (MGA) is seeking a dedicated and strategic Benefits and Training Coordinator Manager to join our Human Resources team. This full-time position is essential in enhancing our human resources planning, implementing, and evaluating employee training and professional development, as well as managing employee benefits. Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Coordinator will serve as a vital liaison for university-wide training initiatives, providing valuable insights and input in the areas of training and benefits administration. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a culture of continuous learning and engagement within the university community. In the realm of University Training and Professional Development, the Coordinator will be responsible for onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development for university personnel. This includes identifying training needs in consultation with leaders, addressing performance issues that require training, and ensuring that hiring managers and search committees are well-trained in recruiting and hiring practices. The Coordinator will also plan, organize, and develop training curricula, materials, and programs tailored to meet specific training needs, while leading the implementation of HR policies and procedures and monitoring their effectiveness. Regarding Employee Benefits and Wellness, the Coordinator will act as the primary contact for employees concerning benefits, disability, and leave of absence requests. This role involves assisting in the administration of leave programs and policies, ensuring compliance with state and federal leave laws, and coordinating annual benefit enrollment messaging and processes. The Coordinator will also serve as the Tuition Assistance Program Coordinator and the primary contact for FMLA, Leave of Absences, Workman’s Compensation, and Short-Term Disability requests. Additionally, the Coordinator will lead Well-Being Campaigns for MGA and co-chair the Employee Wellness Committee. The Coordinator will also be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating employee engagement strategies, focusing on cultivating an engaging culture within the university. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to support the overall mission of the Human Resources department.

Responsibilities

  • Provides onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development to university personnel.
  • Identifies training needs and addresses performance issues requiring training in consultation with leaders.
  • Ensures hiring managers and search committees are trained in recruiting and hiring practices.
  • Plans, organizes, and develops training curricula, materials, and programs to meet specific training needs.
  • Leads the implementation of HR policies and procedures and monitors their effectiveness.
  • Acts as the primary contact for employees regarding benefits, disability, and leave of absence requests.
  • Assists in the administration of leave programs and policies, ensuring consistency and compliance with state and federal leave laws.
  • Coordinates annual benefit enrollment messaging, open enrollment processes, and employee fairs.
  • Serves as the Tuition Assistance Program Coordinator.
  • Serves as the primary contact for FMLA, Leave of Absences, Workman’s Compensation, and Short-Term Disability requests.
  • Leads Well-Being Campaigns for MGA and serves as the Co-Chair of the Employee Wellness Committee.
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of employee engagement strategies.
  • Develops long-term strategies and facilitates tactics to cultivate an engaging culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws.
  • 3 years of Human Resources, Benefits Administration, and Training experience.
  • Experience working in a Human Resources Information System (HRIS).
  • Supervisory experience required.
