HVAC Mechanic - Odessa, TX

About the position

Turner Industries is seeking an experienced licensed HVAC Mechanic for the Odessa, TX area. The HVAC Mechanic will be responsible for assembling, installing, servicing, and repairing air conditioning refrigeration, and heating units used in homes, schools, commercial, and industrial buildings. The role requires a current HVAC license from the State of Texas and a valid driver's license, with industrial maintenance experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, service, and repair air conditioning refrigeration and heating units.
• Study building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.
• Measure windows or other existing openings, or cut through walls to install new units.
• Diagnose causes of equipment breakdowns and test parts with appropriate instruments.
• Disassemble and assemble parts, making necessary repairs.
• Locate and mark positions of pipe and/or duct connections and passage holes in walls and floors.
• Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and/or duct fittings.
• Cut and thread pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.
• Connect motors to control panels and balance motors for efficient operation.
• Connect control panels to power source.
• May weld holding fixtures to steel structural members.
• May install and maintain solar heating and cooling units.

Requirements

• Current HVAC License - State of TX.
• Valid Driver's License.
• One (1) to four (4) years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level).
• Written pre-employment qualification test.
• Post-offer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation.
• Hazard Communication orientation/test.
• Turner Industries Group, LLC indoctrination.
• OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87).
• Job site orientation.
• Job site safety requirements as required by the client.
• Safety equipment as required by the client.
• Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others in the workplace.

Nice-to-haves

• Industrial maintenance experience preferred.
