About The Position

The position involves managing the Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) automation program at AEC, focusing on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of various electrical and automation systems. The role requires strong leadership skills to mentor and develop a team of technicians while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies. The successful candidate will also coordinate with contractors and support capital projects, ensuring efficient operations and effective problem resolution in a hazardous environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of electrical service in a similar hazardous environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical supervisory experience and prior field instrumentation required.
  • Extensive knowledge of the National Electric Code.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas process controls and automation, with the ability to teach others.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical blueprints and diagrams.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks efficiently.
  • Experience applying and interpreting results from common electrical measurement instruments (voltmeter, ammeter, ohmmeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
  • Experience with various programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Ability to program Allen Bradley PLCs and Emerson products such as ROC 800 units.
  • Current Journeyman's license required.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Intermediate computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, company software).
  • Ability to write and troubleshoot logic in PLC and ROC link programs.
  • Experience with field meter programming and communications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage I&E automation program including installation, inspection, maintenance, operation, troubleshooting, repair, and calibration of equipment.
  • Supervise I&E technicians, motivating and training them to achieve safe and efficient operations.
  • Develop the I&E team using company SOPs.
  • Collaborate with I&E and automation personnel to maintain I/O from devices through PLCs into SCADA systems.
  • Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program for AEC pumps, compressors, drives, and auxiliary control equipment.
  • Provide remote and on-site support for automation issues at all locations.
  • Proactively identify potential field issues and alert managers for remediation.
  • Lead a team to support growth through operational qualifications and training.
  • Coordinate high/medium voltage work with electrical contractors as necessary.
  • Assist the capital projects team in commissioning efforts for facility and infrastructure projects.
