About The Position

The Middleware Engineer role is responsible for the delivery, optimization, and scalability of middleware assets, services, and APIs. This position collaborates with various IT teams to ensure secure communication between IT systems, application components, and vendors, while optimizing the performance of integration environments through planning, testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting system integrations.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in Middleware Technologies or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Proven experience in IBM MQ, IBM App Connect, IBM DataPower, and related tools.
  • Proficiency in management of SSL/TLS certificates.
  • Understanding of Linux navigation and scripting.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Middleware platforms such as MuleSoft or Kafka.
  • Familiarity with log management technologies such as Graylog.
  • Experience with ReST and SOAP APIs utilizing OAuth 2.0 and SAML 2.0 security.
  • Understanding of build and deployment processes with tools like IBM UCD and Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver, optimize, and scale middleware assets, services, and APIs.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure secure communication between systems and vendors.
  • Optimize performance of integration environments by planning, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Assess, deploy, and support middleware products for advanced application functionality and security.
  • Develop solutions for middleware platforms using standard frameworks and automation.
  • Perform troubleshooting across multiple middleware platforms in production and non-production environments.
  • Execute middleware technology roadmap initiatives for platform stability and optimization.
  • Install security patches to mitigate vulnerabilities.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and practices through research and networking.
  • Work with vendors and development teams to implement technical services and tools.
  • Monitor system services to ensure performance meets SLAs and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate implementation of middleware capabilities with business units and technology teams.
  • Engage in Disaster Recovery planning and participate in proof-of-concept studies.
