The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) position at Kindred Hospital Tarrant County - Fort Worth Southwest involves providing high-quality care to critically ill patients in an intensive care setting. The role requires the nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care while serving as an advocate for patients and supervising other caregivers. The ICU RN is responsible for developing nursing care plans, ensuring patient education, and participating in discharge planning, all while adhering to hospital policies and maintaining a standard of nursing care.

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality patient care to critically ill patients through the nursing process of Assessment, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation.
  • Serves as a patient advocate at all times.
  • Supervises the nursing care provided to each patient by other caregivers.
  • Develops the plan for nursing care in coordination with the patient, family, and interdisciplinary team.
  • Applies critical thinking to promote positive clinical outcomes.
  • Ensures patient education and participates in discharge planning.
  • Maintains the standard of nursing care and implements hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assesses the patient on admission and makes referrals to other disciplines as needed.
  • Documents patient assessments, care plans, and other pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
  • Demonstrates correct use of biomedical equipment and safe delivery of patient care.
  • Obtains consents for procedures and ensures patients have necessary information for informed decisions.
  • Receives and accurately transcribes physician's orders, ensuring follow-through on orders.
  • Recognizes and responds to changes in patient condition, instituting emergency actions as necessary.
  • Administers medications with knowledge of actions, side effects, and correct dosages according to ICU policies.
  • Directs, supervises, and evaluates nursing care provided to patients.
  • Assists physicians with special tests and procedures.
  • Participates in economical utilization of supplies and maintains equipment in a safe manner.
  • Participates in orientation of new personnel and performance evaluations of nursing staff.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program.
  • Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
  • BCLS certification and ACLS required.
  • Minimum one year training and experience in Critical Care.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly wage of $36 - $48.38 per hour.
