About the position

KIPP NYC Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate World Languages Teacher (Spanish) for high school students. This full-time position is an immediate opening, aimed at fostering a rigorous and joyful learning environment. The teacher will be responsible for planning and executing a college preparatory curriculum that aligns with both the school's standards and New York State Standards, while also promoting critical thinking among students. The role involves creating thoughtful and rigorous daily lessons, assessing student progress, and effectively communicating results to students, families, and colleagues. In addition to classroom instruction, the teacher will provide individual and small group instruction to ensure that all students achieve mastery of the material. The teacher will model the school's values in all communications and demonstrate a commitment to a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure student success. Advising a small group of students throughout their high school journey is also a key responsibility of this role. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching various levels of Spanish and/or French, possess strong interpersonal skills, and contribute positively to a collegial working environment. Responsibilities

  • Planning a college preparatory curriculum that combines the school's standards and New York State Standards, fostering critical thinking.
  • Executing thoughtful, rigorous daily college preparatory lessons.
  • Assessing student progress and communicating results to students, families, and colleagues.
  • Providing individual and small group instruction until all students achieve mastery.
  • Modeling the school's values in all communications with students, families, and staff.
  • Demonstrating a “whatever it takes” spirit to ensure that each student is successful.
  • Advising a small group of students to success through their four years of high school.

Requirements

  • Experience teaching various levels of Spanish and/or French.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial working environment.
  • At least two years of teaching experience strongly preferred.
  • New York State teacher certification in the appropriate content area.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • A passion for being part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school culture.
  • Demonstrated success in raising the achievement levels of students within KIPP NYC communities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses.
  • Familiarity with dual enrollment programs.
