About the position

The In-Person Early Childhood Education Adjunct position at Iowa Western Community College involves teaching Early Childhood Education classes in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The role requires adherence to college policies, evaluation of student performance, and the promotion of quality education programs aimed at student retention and success. The adjunct instructor will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, assessing student learning outcomes, and providing support to students in achieving their educational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses according to college policies.
  • Meet Minimum Faculty Standards for hire and adhere to college policies and procedures.
  • Promote, develop, and deliver quality education programs to retain students to graduation.
  • Demonstrate IWCC's core mission, vision, and values.
  • Meet minimum expectations for the use of the college Learning Management System, including posting syllabi and maintaining gradebooks.
  • Assess and document student learning outcomes in courses each term.
  • Organize and teach labs as assigned by the academic dean.
  • Complete required professional development and trainings.
  • Exhibit a positive and professional demeanor with all members of the college and community.
  • Promote, model, and enforce academic integrity.
  • Be available to answer student questions outside of class time.
  • Help students achieve their educational and career goals and refer them to college resources.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and Title IX regulations.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required for teaching arts and science courses.
  • At least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline for arts and science courses.
  • Bachelor's or graduate degree in the discipline for career and technical education courses, or at least 18 undergraduate credit hours in the discipline.
  • Associate degree in the discipline if considered terminal and 3000 hours of recent and relevant work experience.
  • Special training and 6000 hours of relevant tested work experience may be required for some disciplines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Enthusiastic and dedicated to helping others.
