Gordon Food Service is seeking an Indirect Tax Accountant who will play a crucial role in preparing various federal, state, and local tax filings for the company and its related entities. This includes responsibilities for income, franchise, sales/use, excise, and property taxes. The ideal candidate will also assist with various tax and business planning projects, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all tax-related matters. The position requires a strong attention to detail and the ability to work effectively with others across different departments to achieve organizational goals. In the realm of Direct Tax, the accountant will be responsible for preparing U.S. and Canadian federal income tax returns, as well as various provincial, state, and local income tax returns. The accountant will maintain and complete all items on the due date tracker listing, investigate and follow up on various customer and internal tax inquiries, and assist with government audits and tax planning projects. For Indirect Tax, the accountant will prepare U.S. and Canadian periodic sales/use tax returns, various property tax filings, and quarterly fuel tax filings along with related refund claims. The role also involves maintaining the due date tracker and addressing inquiries related to tax matters. The accountant will be expected to perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
