About the position

The Industrial Tooling Technician role is designed for individuals looking to grow their skills in a supportive, family-oriented environment. This position involves hands-on experience with machining and assembly, focusing on building jigs, fixtures, and dies while ensuring high-quality standards are met. The technician will oversee the machining process leading up to assembly and tryout of tools, emphasizing timely and accurate completion of tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner.
  • Work in a team environment focusing on meeting Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost standards.
  • Operate and set up lathes, Bridgeport type mills, grinders, and drill presses to machine basic parts.
  • Troubleshoot blank/draw dies to determine root causes of issues and correct them.
  • Use micrometers, dial indicators, and Vernier calipers to measure parts for quality checks.
  • Read and understand mechanical blueprints of basic parts, including machining tolerances and dimensioning.
  • Understand machining surface finishes, thread types, cutting requirements, and weld symbols.
  • Perform basic math related to machining parts (conversions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Specify and sharpen tools as needed.
  • Maintain 6S of the area (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Safety, Sustain).
  • Safely lift/rig materials to load/unload machines using forklifts and/or cranes.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-6 months of previous Tool & Die repair experience or equivalent knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent work patterns.
  • Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent basic forklift/material handling skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
