Responsibilities

  • Administers servers running OpenVMS, including administration and setup of the servers connected to the network at multiple locations.
  • Provide technical support to clients and MSA engineers on OpenVMS.
  • Ability to install and set up system applications and system backup software.
  • Create technical support documentation.
  • Troubleshoots simple to complex system problems for internal or external customers.
  • Troubleshoots simple network problems.
  • Requires on-call rotation with two other administrators.
  • Some after hours and weekend support to meet customer system availability requirements.
  • Work is remote with occasional on-site requirement.

Requirements

  • Completion of a four-year degree, technical school, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of two years' related experience administering servers running OpenVMS or related technologies.
  • Experience administering platforms in a production environment preferred.
  • Ability to provide technical support to resolve customer issues.
  • OpenVMS (willing to train candidates that have Linux, Unix, VMware, or Windows Server admin experience).
  • Experience performing operating system upgrades, systems planning, and failure analysis as it relates to day-to-day operations.
  • Good problem determination and resolution skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to document, develop, and implement test plans to verify installation, upgrades, or repairs, including back-out plans.
  • Must be a team player with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Background check and on-going random drug testing.
