About the position

The Information Systems Specialist I - Driver Application position at the Illinois Secretary of State involves performing complex technical functions and administrative tasks related to the installation, evaluation, security, and maintenance of hardware, operating systems, and software for large-scale networks. The role requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with security standards and to improve enterprise processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of end user hardware, software, and communication requirements, recommending new or upgraded components or services.
  • Develop detailed plans for hardware and software configurations, network connections, installation schedules, and training plans.
  • Direct or provide ongoing support to other support teams.
  • Support the use of SCCM and Intune systems to deploy changes when needed.
  • Ensure applications and operating systems are patched to correct levels.
  • Diagnose issues with deployments or installations.
  • Improve enterprise processes to ensure environments are up-to-date and secure.
  • Work with Cyber and Information security teams to remediate vulnerabilities on end-point devices.
  • Collaborate with application development/application support teams to ensure applications comply with ILSOS security standards.
  • Establish working relationships with all other Support groups within DoIT and outside Vendor relationships as needed.
  • Relay appropriate information to Property Control and Equipment Control Officer regarding installation, relocation, and/or removal of equipment.
  • Participate in various project work groups.
  • Act independently in response to unplanned hardware or software failures.

Requirements

  • Knowledge equivalent to the completion of two years of college with coursework in the computer science field or 2.5 years of technical systems and/or programming experience.
  • Working knowledge of systems design and implementation, including programming methods and data transcription.
  • Working knowledge of devices for capturing data and means for data transmission from remote locations.
  • Ability to conduct feasibility studies for converting to computer applications.
  • Ability to organize facts and findings, analyze data logically, and present results clearly.
  • Ability to use appropriate methods, tools, applications, and processes.
  • Ability to approach work in a rational and organized manner.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in analyzing and solving problems.
  • Ability to adhere to organizational standards for security, privacy, and ethics.
  • Willingness to travel and possession of a valid Illinois driver's license.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
