About The Position

The Inspector will promote a safe working environment by understanding and adhering to all Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to self and co-workers. The immediate responsibility includes ensuring that finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations. The Inspector will be responsible for identifying and classifying typical defects encountered in packaging, including critical, major, and minor defects. The role involves alerting the Operator to all defects for resolution, verifying that packaging parameters are met according to specifications, and performing any necessary rework safely. The Inspector will also maintain a clean work area, assist in various tasks to promote teamwork, and support the Operator and Maintenance department as needed. The position requires effective communication and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe working environment.

Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds continuously throughout the shift.
• Work involves continuous lifting, bending, reaching, and twisting.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment by adhering to safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure finished goods meet or exceed customer expectations.
• Classify defects as critical, major, or minor and alert the Operator to defects.
• Verify that packaging parameters are met according to specifications.
• Perform rework safely and maintain a clean work area.
• Assist in housekeeping and organizing tasks.
• Support the Operator during machine startup and clear jams.
• Assist the Maintenance department with housekeeping around machines.
• Evaluate and take action to maintain a safe work environment.
• Inspect work areas for unsafe acts or conditions.
• Communicate effectively using verbal and written methods.
• Perform sweeping, cleaning, and sorting duties as necessary.
