About the position

The Field Operations Inspector at Spire Energy is responsible for overseeing the completion of new construction and replacement pipeline projects. This role ensures that projects meet customer expectations and are completed on time, while adhering to all company policies and safety regulations. The inspector supervises contractor crews, manages project records, and coordinates with various stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day activities of assigned new construction and replacement pipeline projects.
  • Ensure projects meet customer expectations and are completed timely according to policies and procedures.
  • Supervise contractor crews through foremen for new growth and replacement work.
  • Complete all records associated with pipeline projects.
  • Prioritize and assign projects to contractor crews and redirect resources as needed.
  • Make critical decisions impacting project scheduling and job safety.
  • Monitor and inspect daily activities related to service and main installations.
  • Maintain permanent field notes and records of job site work.
  • Verify and approve contractor pay sheets for work performed.
  • Coordinate with Construction Engineering to ensure necessary permits are in place before project start.
  • Verify that all right of ways and utilities are located and marked appropriately before work begins.
  • Consult with System Planning to ensure adequate gas supply for customers.
  • Conduct pre-project meetings with contractors and serve as company representative during meetings.
  • Complete and submit project completion reports within 30 days of work completion.
  • Adhere to environmental standards and best management practices.
  • Communicate ongoing status of installations and job-related activities with stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized records, project files, and communications.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent required.
  • Valid Alabama Driver's license required.
  • 5 years of experience in pipeline or natural gas-related work required.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and understanding of general pipeline construction practices required.
  • Proficient in using laptop, calculator, gas flow calculations, and various construction tools and equipment required.
  • Thorough knowledge of corporate policies, standards, and procedures related to personnel and projects required.
  • Familiarity with APSC rules and regulations for pipeline construction and DOT 49CFR, Part 191 & 192 required.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with company and governmental regulations required.
  • Knowledge and experience with GIS, customer relations, Microsoft Office, and enterprise software preferred.
