About the position

The Instructional Design Consultant position at MSys Inc. in San Jose, California, is a long-term role focused on the planning, development, conduct, and evaluation of complex management and employee training programs. This position requires the consultant to conduct thorough needs assessments and task analyses to identify the training requirements of employees and management. The consultant will be responsible for developing technology training programs tailored for non-technical audiences, ensuring that the training is accessible and effective for all participants. In this role, the consultant will establish collaborative working relationships with a diverse audience, including stakeholders and trainees, to ensure that training objectives are met. The consultant will formulate specific objectives to evaluate training results and maintain current knowledge of state-of-the-art training theories and practices. Data collection, analysis, and interpretation will be key components of the role, allowing the consultant to assess the effectiveness of training programs. The consultant will also be expected to demonstrate strong communication skills, both orally and in writing, and to effectively facilitate training sessions for both large and small groups. The ability to reason logically and creatively, along with the use of various analytical skills, will be essential in meeting program goals related to management and employee training and improving organizational productivity. Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and process stakeholders will be crucial, as will the ability to learn and retain knowledge of all assigned applications. The consultant will need to coordinate and communicate effectively with process stakeholders while managing multiple complex work assignments.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, conduct, and evaluate a variety of complex management and employee training programs.
  • Conduct employee, management, and organizational needs assessments and task analyses.
  • Develop technology training programs for non-technical audiences.
  • Establish collaborative working relationships with a diverse audience, including stakeholders and trainees.
  • Formulate specific objectives to evaluate training results.
  • Maintain currency in state-of-the-art training theory and practice.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data related to training effectiveness.
  • Demonstrate active listening skills and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Conduct training and development sessions and perform the role of facilitator.
  • Utilize group dynamic skills and techniques during training sessions.
  • Reason logically and creatively to meet program goals related to training and development.
  • Interact and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and process stakeholders.
  • Learn and retain knowledge of all assigned applications.
  • Coordinate and communicate with process stakeholders.
  • Multi-task complex work assignments.

Requirements

  • Experience in creating online multimedia training using applications such as Articulate 360.
  • Two years of recent experience designing, developing, and delivering training curriculum and materials for a software system.
  • Two years of experience working with software applications and computer systems essential to the functional area in which staff will need to be trained.
